Requirements of the 4 Largest Stock Exchanges
If a company wants to be listed to have their stocks and shares traded they must
meet certain requirements. The requirements differ according to the different
stock exchanges. The top for exchanges include the London Stock Exchange,
NASDAQ, New York Stock Exchange, and the Bombay Stock Exchange.
If a business wants to be listed with the London Stock Exchange they must have
minimum market capitalization of 700,000 pounds. In addition, the business must
have at least three years of financial audit statements, a 25% of public float
minimum, and proven sufficient working capital for at least one solid year of
the date of listing with the exchange. The LSE has been around since 1801 and is
one of the largest stock exchanges in the world.
The NASDAQ Stock Exchange has requirements for a business to be listed with them
also. A business must have issued a minimum of 1.25 million shares of stock. The
stock must be worth more than $70 million and the company must have a revenue of
more than $11 million within the last three years. The NASDAQ is the most
publicly traded stock exchanges in the world and includes over 3,200 companies.
The requirements for the New York Stock Exchange include having at least a
million shares of stock that are worth $100 million or more and the business
must have earned more than $10 million over the previous three years. By dollar
volume the NYSE is the largest of the stock exchanges in the world. The New York
Stock Exchange includes 2,764 securities.
The Bombay Stock Exchange requires a minimum market capitalization of Rs.250
million. The public float must be a minimum public float equivalent to Rs.100
million. This exchange is the largest of the stock exchanges in the world in
respect to the amount of companies listed with them. There are 4,800 companies
listed with the Bombay Stock Exchange.
If a business wants to be listed with one of the four major stock exchanges they
must have high revenues and meet many requirements. The four largest exchanges
include the Bombay Stock Exchange, NASDAQ, NYSE, and the London Stock Exchange.
